The major goals of the congress are to foster scientific exchange between public health microbiologists and epidemiologists in the field of invasive bacterial infections caused by Neisseria meningitidis and Haemophilus influenzae and to spread cutting-edge knowledge in the field of bacterial typing, vaccines and public health management. The congress provides a forum to harmonize laboratory analysis and epidemiological approaches in Europe. It serves quality assurance and laboratory capacity building. We expect new European collaborations to emerge from the meeting to be continued within the frame of the EMGM society. Participation of young investigators is highly welcome and will be promoted by travel grants.
